THE MEDITERRANEAN INSTITUTE FOR CITY AND TERRITORY: A UNIFYING, SUSTAINABLE CAMPUS IN THE HEART OF MARSEILLE!
ITS SUBTLE YET GENEROUS ARCHITECTURE PERFECTLY REFLECTS THE MEDITERRANEAN ENVIRONMENT
The MICT embodies the Mediterranean not only through its educational and research missions but also through its architecture. With a design that balances adaptability and precision, simplicity and generosity, it responds to the demanding climate of Marseille. The buildings, with their light-coloured façades, reflect the need to shield from the sun while maintaining a warm and understated aesthetic.
SIGNIFICANT THERMAL CHALLENGES
The Institute stands out for its environmental commitment, focusing on architectural solutions that promote sustainability and thermal performance. The WICONA aluminium joinery, supplied by SAM Bâtiment, plays a key role in maintaining thermal comfort, meeting the high standards required to ensure a pleasant indoor environment throughout the year.
WICONA'S EXPERTISE
SAM Bâtiment selected WICONA joinery for its performance and versatility on the institute’s construction site. With over 385 assemblies in brushed anodised aluminium, this project serves as a genuine technical showcase for WICONA. The joinery provides exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation, with acoustic performance reaching up to 40 dB Rw+Ctr. The large-scale glazing required robust, tailor-made solutions, demonstrating WICONA's expertise in handling substantial structural loads.
