WICONA Solutions for the New Maubeuge Hospital
A new hospital in Maubeuge, covering an area of 34,000 m² and offering 265 beds, is strengthening and modernising the healthcare provision in the Sambre-Avesnois region. Designed to adapt to a fast-evolving technological environment, the building is highly flexible thanks to its large concrete rectangle and compact T-shaped design.
To support this choice of interior flexibility, WICONA’s WICLINE 65 HI concealed sash windows met all expectations. This is a glazed unit made up of three parts: a central glazed section 1.25 metres wide, flanked on either side by two 625 mm glazed sections, with 100 mm thick mullions capable of absorbing the impact of the building’s interior partitions.
The WICTEC 50 curtain wall solution used for the three ground-floor courtyards allows generous natural light to flood the building. At the foot of the hospital, a fourth WICTEC 50 corner curtain wall also rises to a height of 3 metres, bathing the cafeteria in natural daylight. Each glazed panel continues the 1,250 mm grid used on the upper floors to ensure visual consistency and unity throughout the structure. Around forty WICSTYLE 65 double-leaf outward-opening doors complete the site.
